Artworks

Hyun Ok Park is a painter who has been working with the theme of nature over 20 years. In other words, she is a veteran artist in the naturalism field. Full vitality, liveliness, and leisurely but tender lyric are one of remarkable distinctiveness of Hyun Ok Park‘s composition. Within her paintings, it is hard to find inertia or banality which naturalism can easily fall into. Fresh, clear, and warm feelings are deeply imbued into the canvas.

The intention of the artist is to recreate four seasons, changes of various times and weather, and the associated emotions into a substance. For this reason, it feels almost like a restoration of new substance through various kinds of materials rather than painting the scenery of nature or still life. The use of a wide range of mixed media including ottchil, stone powder, acrylic and binder helps to freeze a moment of a specific state of nature that contains seasons, times and weather, or a flower at the climax of its bloom. Park says “My desire is to portray our life on canvas through nature.” This all originates from attitudes of the artist who makes thorough and sharp observations of nature that surrounds her, and projects her emotions onto it, and finally considering the nature and reality as a single object.
